County-wide Burn Ban Approved for Sixty Days
On August 24, 2010, County Judge Dan A. Gattis instituted a burn ban for all of Williamson County.  During regular session of the Commissioners Court on August 31, commissioners voted to approve the ban for sixty days. A person violates this order if he burns any combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or orders such burning by others. The burn ban prohibits the burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings. It also prohibits burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation. The purpose of the burn ban is to mitigate the hazard posed by wild fires during the current hot, dry weather by curtailing the practice of outdoor burning. This order may be enforced by any duly-commissioned peace officer.

Mourning Dove Lane to Close Starting August 16
Published
Mourning Dove Lane, one of the entrances to the Summerlyn subdivision, will be closed at US 183 starting August 16 for approximately three weeks. Traffic will be detoured to take CR 263 or Whitewing Drive to US 183. The general contractor, Dan Williams Company, will be performing work that requires reconstruction of the intersection of Mourning Dove Lane and US 183 as part of the US 183 project to construct a four lane divided roadway from 0.70 miles north of SH 29 to 0.50 miles south of the San Gabriel River, a length of approximately 4.2 miles. The project also includes northbound and southbound bridges over the San Gabriel River.
The project was designed by Dannenbaum Engineering Company. The project is financed through the state’s Pass-Through Financing Program. The program allows counties to design and construct projects on state maintained roads with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reimbursing the county for most of the expenses. TxDOT will reimburse the county semi-annually over a 10 to 20 year period based on the number of cars that use the improved road. It is estimated that construction will be complete in late 2012.

CR 374 Closed at CR 366 Due to Construction

As of Thursday, July 22, 2010, County Road (C.R.) 374 at C.R. 366 will be closed due to construction of Chandler Road Phase 3B.  Traffic will be diverted to SH 95.  When this section of Chandler Road is completed, C.R. 374 will connect to Chandler Road and traffic on C.R 374 can access C.R. 366 using Chandler Road.  This construction is anticipated to be completed in September 2010.  Chandler Road Phase 3B connects SH 95 to C.R. 366.  Chandler Phase 3A is anticipated to be started in early 2011 and will then connect this eastern section of Chandler Road to F.M. 1660.  Chandler Road will form a connection from IH 35 directly to SH 95.  Chandler Road Phase 3 is funded by the Williamson County Road Bond Program approved by voters in 2006.
