County Offices Closed September 6 for Labor Day Holiday

Williamson County offices will be closed on Monday, September 6, for the Labor Day holiday.  Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, September 7.

Burn Ban Issued for Williamson County
 
On August 24, 2010, County Judge Dan A. Gattis instituted a burn ban for all of Williamson County.  During regular session of the Commissioners Court on August 31, commissioners voted to approve the ban for sixty days. A person violates this order if he burns any combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or orders such burning by others. More…

Court Adopts New Budget and Tax Rate for FY2010-2011

On Tuesday, August 31, the Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted a tax rate of .489999, the same tax rate as this year.  The Court adopted a general fund budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year of $124,355,685.15, which is $496,104.26 less than the current amended budget of $124,851,789.41. More…
 
County Breaks Ground on US 79 Section 3

Williamson County Commissioner Ron Morrison, Precinct 4, invites the public to help celebrate the groundbreaking of US 79 Section 3 from east of Hutto to County Road 402 on Thursday, September 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The project will widen the undivided roadway to a four lane rural arterial with depressed median to include dedicated turn lanes at major intersections and intermittent median crossovers. Completion is anticipated within 16 to 18 months.
 
September Events at the Williamson Museum

The museum is set to open their latest exhibit: Whiskey versus Water: Prohibition in Williamson County, at the First Friday event on September 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. Hands-On History will “Honor our Heroes” on Saturday, September 11, from 10 a.m. to noon. Up the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive and Chuck Wagon Cook-off 2010 begins Friday, September 17, with activities planned through Saturday, September 18. The Books for Texans Club meets on Tuesday, September 21, at 7 p.m. to discuss this month’s selection: “The Big Rich: The Rise and Fall of the Greatest Texas Oil Fortunes”  by Bryan Burroughs. For more details, call 512-943-1670 or click here.

Volunteers Needed for September 10 Day of Caring Projects

A Born Learning Trail will be created at Berry Springs Park and Preserve as part of the United Way’s Day of Caring planned for Friday, September 10. Volunteers are needed to create the trail and several landscape projects. Two other sites selected for improvements include the Neighborhood Conference Committee building and the Head Start center in Round Rock. September is 2010 Model Kitten Close Out Month

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is offering a special kitten rate of only $30 each or two kittens for $50 during the month of September.  Adoption includes spay/neuter, microchip, routine vaccinations, and FeLV testing for the cats and kittens. Hurry in today for a free test snuggle!

Denim and Diamonds Fur Ball

The first annual Denim and Diamonds Fur Ball, benefiting the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, will be held on Saturday, October 16, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Marriott North in La Frontera. The ball will feature dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Tickets are $75 each. More…
