Tim L. Wright, Judge of Williamson County Court at Law #2, took office on January 2, 2003 after his election in November of 2002.
Judge Wright was born January 19, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1963. He graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968 and received his law degree from Baylor University in 1970. He was an Editor of the Baylor Law Review and also served as Magister (president) of Phi Delta Phi Honorary Legal Fraternity. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and licensed to practice law in September of 1970. He is also licensed to practice in the United States District Court, Western District of Texas and the United States Tax Court.
Judge Wright has served as president of the Williamson County Bar Association, a Director of the Association of Local Bar Presidents, chairman of District S2 Grievance Committee for the State Bar of Texas, and served as the City Attorney for the City of Round Rock, Texas from May 4, 1972 to September 30, 1977. Presently Judge Wright is the judge of the Williamson County DWI/Drug Court, which he and Rick Zinsmeyer, retired director of Williamson County Adult Probation, with the invaluable assistance of Williamson County Attorney Jana Duty, established in the winter of 2006.
In addition to practicing law for over 37 years he has worn a lot of different hats including such varied fields as farming and ranching, the cutting horse and race horse business, residential construction, land development, the fast food industry, the topsoil, sand and gravel business, R.V. Park business, and real estate marketing. Judge Wright has served as President of the Georgetown Noon Kiwanis, has served as a director of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of directors of Life Steps (formerly Williamson County Council on Alcohol and Drugs). He is also an avid reader of fiction, hunter and counts as one of life’s true joys fishing on the Texas gulf coast.
Judge Wright and his wife Lisa, a master reading teacher with the Georgetown ISD, are the proud parents of a teenage daughter, Rebekah. Judge Wright also has two adult children who were raised and educated in Georgetown and he and Lisa also have four grandchildren. Judge Wright is an active member of Celebration Church and ranks his spiritual life as his highest priority.
