
Judge Brooks has been committed to public service and the citizens of Williamson County for many years, formerly as a felony prosecutor and presently as a County Court-at-Law Judge. Judge Brooks was the first elected female trial court Judge in Williamson County and began her term of office in January 2003. She also served as Judge of County Court Two in Williamson County for several months in 2002, after being appointed by the Commissioner's Court to fill a vacant bench.
Throughout her ten-year career as a prosecutor, Judge Brooks was a courtroom advocate for abused and neglected children in many child abuse cases. She obtained the first murder conviction and life sentence in Williamson County against a parent that caused the death of a child due to "shaken baby syndrome".
Judge Brooks received a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from the University of Mississippi and her Law Degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston. In 2009, Judge Brooks received a graduate certificate in International Studies from Texas A & M University and completed a three-year Advanced Judicial Education Program with the Texas College of Judicial Studies.
